Thanking My Lucky Stars

As the year 2008 comes to its end, I have realized that this year---despite the troubles that came my way---is definitely my year. No matter how sad (depressed even) I got, the good things far outweigh the bad times I had in 2008. I, however, would not be experiencing this level of happiness without the help of some very special people.

Having said that, I would like to thank every one who, in some way or another, has made me for what, who, and where I am today.

My family. They've always been there my entire life. Sure, I may not understand them all the time. I get into a few quarrels with my siblings, my brothers especially, but I love them with all my heart. My family comes second to none. (Not counting my belief in the Lord, though ;p)

My girls. And by that I mean my high school and college friends. Don't go thinking of something else. Hehe. They are the ones who can put up with my mood swings. They put up with my childishness. They answer my stupid and usually very  trivial questions with patience. But most importantly: they never fail to remind me to stop questioning the ugly things that passed my way, and that instead I should have faith that something good will come out in the end. Kristel, Je, Aubs, Fran, KC, Tin, Rei, Ingrid, and Hanna: "Thank you for the kind words, wonderful advices, and patience. I love you gurls!" *Group hug* =)

My O8O Family. Thank you for taking me under your wing. Working in this company is like a dream come true. I think it's seldom that a person can get the career that he really wants. And it's even harder to be surrounded by talented, creative, and fun people in the office. In my case, I've got both. So, let's all BOUNCE and JUST GO with the FLOW 'cause WE'VE DEFINITELY STRUCK GOLD. Not to mention that October Eighty, TSUPER knows how to CRADLE those around her. Anyway, let's all raise our wine glasses (pretend that you're holding one) to 2009 and to the world of publishing!

The Love of My Life, Ian Belleza. I've said this to you a gazillion times, but I won't tire of saying it over and over and over again. I am deeply in love with you. You are my boyfriend, bestfriend, and big brother rolled into one. Thanks for putting up with my demands, immaturity, crankiness, and whatnots. You are the sweetest guy ever! And because of that, you are like the icing on my (ube macapuno) cake.

The Lord, our God. Thank you for everything that you meant to happen in my life. I've learned how to trust; to stand up for myself; to know when I've had enough; to not cry over spilled milk; to be more patient and be more understanding; to realize that good things come to those who wait. And, of course, I learned to love again. Please always keep my family and my friends (and myself) safe. And lastly, please guide us with your everlasting light.

AMEN.

Exceptions to The Rules

As they all say, "In every rule, there is an exception." I, myself, have quite a few of those exceptions. But before anything else, I would like to enumerate some of my so-called rules

  • I will not blog about my personal life
  • I will not entertain suitors from the workplace
  • I will not blog about mushy stuff since I am not a mushy person (or so I think)

Now comes the fun part! I will be writing about the exceptions I've made (or will be making) to the rules stated above.

I will not blog about my personal life. If you were able to read my first entry, you must have seen that talking about my life through a blog is not what I intend to do. This entry, however, is going to be an exception. Who knows? This might probably be the first of many exceptions for one of my rules. ;p

I will not entertain suitors from the workplace. Without sounding too vain nor too full of myself, I used to have suitors from my previous work. I ignored them in every way I can. It even came to the point where I had to lie and to pretend that I had a boyfriend. Didn't work. Some of them still persisted, but to no avail. I was determined to lose them by hook or by crook. Eventually, they got the picture. They left me alone. And I was left to enjoy my single life.

But since we're on the topic of making exceptions, you're probably thinking I did entertain someone. How smart of you, dear reader! Yep,  I did! Without any regrets whatsoever. As a matter of fact... I am very very veeeeery happy with my life with him by my side. Awwww... *sniff*sniff*

I will not blog about mushy stuff since I am not a mushy person (or so I think). Forgive me, but I believe this is going to be mushy. I just want to let everyone, who will be able to read this, know that I am head over heels in love with my boyfriend. (MY BOYFRIEND... oooh la la! I love the sound of that!) My life has been blessed a thousandfold since he came into my life. *heart's a flutter*

Like a thief, he silently crept his way into my world. He took his time--commendable for someone who admits that patience isn't one of his virtues. The difference between my man and a thief is that he didn't steal my heart. He didn't need to. He won it little by little, piece by piece... until, there was nothing left for me to do, but to give it willingly. No questions asked, he has won me over.

No one is perfect. For me, however, he is perfection--from his insistent ways, gentle demeanor, and down to his impeccable taste. But what I love most about this guy is the way he talks and cares about two of the most important women in his life, his mom and his grandmother.

Anyway, I am his and his alone =D With him, my life is bliss. I most certainly couldn't ask for more... *Sigh*

Writing--One of My Loves

Most of my friends know that I read a lot; though, not all of them know that I write. Not for a long time, anyway. Those who (do) have an idea that I used to enjoy writing have asked me, time and again, if I had a blog. I would look them in the eye and say, "You know I haven't written in a long while. Plus, I'm not the type who blogs. I'm not really comfortable with people I know reading about my life. If I wanted anyone to learn about the goings on in my life, I would have called that person. He wouldn't know about it just because he read it from a blog." That said, I have, for years, resolved not to blog.
However, time comes when you miss things that you have grown accustomed to. In my case, I miss writing. I miss: staying up late to write articles for the school paper; rolling balls of paper because I didn't like a poem I was trying to compose; using different colored pens to edit articles that teachers and friends asked me to help with.

For quite some time, I've spent countless days debating with myself whether or not I wanted to join the bandwagon. I tried to convince myself that blogging was not exactly my cup of tea. But since you're reading this, it's needless to say that my love for writing has won me over.

Life is too beautiful not to write about it. And today, is only just the beginning. ;p
