The Start of Something New (?)

I take it all back. This blog is going to be as personal as it can get.

Was talking with a very good friend, Upper, in Shakey's El Pueblo the other night and as I told her she inspired me to write/blog. And I realize that she has a point-- that writing is an outlet that I very much need nowadays. So from this day forth, I shall try to blog as often as I can.

Hopefully, I can make time.

Telescopic

Being the shopaholic that I am, I guess it's not surprising for me to post something about stuff I spend my (hard-earned) money on. With that said, this post will be about L'oreal's Telescopic Mascara. This is a long overdue post, though.

You see, I have long eyelashes that UNFORTUNATELY do not curl up (read as boring). So one day, while I was leafing through the pages of Cosmopolitan magazine, I chanced upon L'oreal's ad. It had Penelope Cruz endorsing the Telescopic mascara. What I loved about the ad was the fact that Penelope Cruz's lashes were curled like they were reaching for the stars! Not to mention that I loved the brush wand and its tiny bristles. It somehow reminded me of my favorite Maybelline mascara.

However, the Telescopic mascara wasn't available yet in the Philippines when I saw the ad. It took me quite a while to find it in stores. Anyway, while I was waiting for said mascara to come out, I decided to do some research. I tried to find out how others thought of my soon-to-be mascara. I searched high and low for reviews. Luckily for me, as well as for the millions of net users, a website called youtube is just a click away.

In youtube, I found a really cool review of the Telescopic mascara. Also, I enjoyed watching Pinkiecharm's review since she was very entertaining and witty, unlike other reviews that were, well, kind of boring. According to Pinkiecharm, if you're the type who doesn't like spidery lashes, then Telescopic mascara is for you.

Time came that I was finally, finally, finally able to get my hands on the new mascara of my dreams. I tried it on when I got home that evening. True enough, L'oreal Telescopic mascara had a natural feel to it. Plus, it was very light on the lashes and could hold the curls. Whatelse... Hmmm... It doesn't smudge and it's very easy to apply (thanks to its cool plastic brush wand).  I was happy! Ecstatic even! =p Bought the mascara for almost 600Php. Was really worth it for me.

Now, however, I'm thinking of buying another mascara. I guess I'll have to leaf through another magazine soon. Or if anyone's got any suggestions on must-have mascaras, I would love to hear what you have to say! Thanks! =p

Thanking My Lucky Stars

As the year 2008 comes to its end, I have realized that this year---despite the troubles that came my way---is definitely my year. No matter how sad (depressed even) I got, the good things far outweigh the bad times I had in 2008. I, however, would not be experiencing this level of happiness without the help of some very special people.

Having said that, I would like to thank every one who, in some way or another, has made me for what, who, and where I am today.

My family. They've always been there my entire life. Sure, I may not understand them all the time. I get into a few quarrels with my siblings, my brothers especially, but I love them with all my heart. My family comes second to none. (Not counting my belief in the Lord, though ;p)

My girls. And by that I mean my high school and college friends. Don't go thinking of something else. Hehe. They are the ones who can put up with my mood swings. They put up with my childishness. They answer my stupid and usually very  trivial questions with patience. But most importantly: they never fail to remind me to stop questioning the ugly things that passed my way, and that instead I should have faith that something good will come out in the end. Kristel, Je, Aubs, Fran, KC, Tin, Rei, Ingrid, and Hanna: "Thank you for the kind words, wonderful advices, and patience. I love you gurls!" *Group hug* =)

My O8O Family. Thank you for taking me under your wing. Working in this company is like a dream come true. I think it's seldom that a person can get the career that he really wants. And it's even harder to be surrounded by talented, creative, and fun people in the office. In my case, I've got both. So, let's all BOUNCE and JUST GO with the FLOW 'cause WE'VE DEFINITELY STRUCK GOLD. Not to mention that October Eighty, TSUPER knows how to CRADLE those around her. Anyway, let's all raise our wine glasses (pretend that you're holding one) to 2009 and to the world of publishing!

The Love of My Life, Ian Belleza. I've said this to you a gazillion times, but I won't tire of saying it over and over and over again. I am deeply in love with you. You are my boyfriend, bestfriend, and big brother rolled into one. Thanks for putting up with my demands, immaturity, crankiness, and whatnots. You are the sweetest guy ever! And because of that, you are like the icing on my (ube macapuno) cake.

The Lord, our God. Thank you for everything that you meant to happen in my life. I've learned how to trust; to stand up for myself; to know when I've had enough; to not cry over spilled milk; to be more patient and be more understanding; to realize that good things come to those who wait. And, of course, I learned to love again. Please always keep my family and my friends (and myself) safe. And lastly, please guide us with your everlasting light.

AMEN.
